Dealing with Car Dealers

Securing financing is always a good place to start. You should do this before you venture out to car marts and car lots. Whatever level of financing you have secured will determine the level of spending you can do. In some cases the dealership may have a finance department, without committing yourself, get a quote from them to see how competitive it is.

Pre-check to see if the dealership offers discounts or close out offers at any special time of the month or year. This is so because dealerships want nothing more than to sell all the cars on the lot so that they can make room for new stock.

Dealerships will try to get you to take some expensive options and upgrades but do not be tempted, remember your budget and what you can afford. In many cases these options are unnecessary. You don’t need rust proofing or a sunroof, they will send up the price of the car. So only pay for what you want.

You should never be afraid to walk away if the dealer is pressuring you too much to make a purchase. Remember that is his or her job, so stick to your plan and leave without fear of hurting someone. Remember it is your money.

Check out your warranties, as many new cars have fairly good warranties. With a used car you have the option to extend the warranty and you can do this either at the dealership or online at any reputable site that offer them. You can take a printed copy of the warranty to the dealer, maybe they will match the price.

You should also get some car insurance quotes. Car insurance adds costs. You will have to pay, so get some quotes from as many companies as you can and compare them. There are many companies with online presence that you can get car insurance quotes from. Try and keep your request for car insurance quotes as current as you can because companies do change there rate from time to time.

Never sign anything at the dealership unless you know what you are signing. Make sure all the facts and figures match up and ask as many questions as you can if you do not understand the contract. If you are not sure you want to buy, then do not sign anything. Once your signature is on the contract there is no turning back.
